William Michael Johnson, 74, of Bluefield, VA, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Born on December 24, 1950, at home in Switchback, WV, he was the son of the late William Thomas Johnson and Evelyn Mae Compton Johnson. Mike retired from Tabor Machine after 40 years of service as a mechanic. Prior to working for Tabor, he worked in the coal mines. He had a heart for youth sports and coached basketball and baseball in the Bluefield, Springville, VA, area for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and trout fishing and spending the month of November with his boys and friends at deer camp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Peggy Loretta Putnam Johnson, and his youngest brother, Steven Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: William "T.J." Johnson and wife, Robin, of Bluefield, WV, and Michael Johnson and wife, Jennifer, of Abingdon, VA; he was affectionately known as "Papa Mike" to his four grandsons: Zachary Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Jack Johnson and Zachary Epperson; one great-grandson: Briar Epperson; brothers: Danny Johnson and Thomas Johnson and wife, Lorraine, all of Bluefield, WV, and a cherished extended family of nieces and nephews, along with a special friend: Ruth Horton of Bluefield, VA.

A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor N.R. Taylor officiating. Due to inclement weather, burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens at a later date. His sons, T.J. Johnson and Mike Johnson, along with his grandsons, Zachary Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Jack Johnson and Zachary Epperson, will serve as pallbearers. Briar Epperson will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
