William Byrd, Jr. Obituary

William Thomas Byrd, Jr., or as most people knew him "Butch" or probably even "Pabutch" was reunited with his soulmate, Mary, when he went to his heavenly home on November 28, 2023. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, his father, and his mother.

He leaves behind a family that loved him more than anything, a daughter Pam and husband Craig, a son Rick and wife Molly. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Jake and fiancée Amalia, Kody and wife Ariel, Chase and wife Emily, Tom and Luke, along with two Great-Grandchildren, Maverick and Jemma.

Pabutch graduated from Bluefield High School, and attended Bluefield Business. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 2000. Pabutch was a family man through and through. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was unlike any other, a man who greeted everyone as though they were family. Pabutch was an active member and Elder of Bastian Union Church. He enjoyed teaching his Sunday School class every week, and could be found every month cooking bacon at the Men's Prayer Breakfast. He also looked forward to his nightly calls with Tommy King, Rick Hull and many other friends. And always looked forward to a good meal.

A memorial service will be held at Bastian Union Church on Monday, December 4. Visitation from 12:00-1:00, and service at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Bastian Union Church Building Fund.
