Wallace Gray "P.I." Yates, age 93 of North Tazewell, VA passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his daughter's home. Born April 2, 1921 in Tazewell County, VA, he was a son of the late Charles Robert and Janie Ireson Yates Robins. Mr. Yates was a US Army veteran of World War, II. During his working years, he was employed at General Instrument and North Tazewell Elementary School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Chapel at North Tazewell, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Edna Neel Yates who died June 20, 2014; two brothers, Charles "Pap" Ireson Yates and Billy Joe Yates; three sisters, Eula Mae Pruett, Rosaline Holcomb, and Martha Taylor. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Debbie and Ronnie Puckett of North Tazewell, VA; grandchildren, Amy and Chuck Greer and Sarah and Brandon Matney all of Tazewell, VA; great grandchildren, Dylan and Madeline Greer; and many precious brothers in law, sisters in law, extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA at 1:30 on Wednesday July 30, 2014 and proceed for graveside services at 2 PM at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Chuck Trent and the Reverend Glennon Balser officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA and Virginia National Guard Honor Team of Gate City, VA.
