Suellen Ferrell Hodges of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the age of 84.
She was born on July 26, 1938, in Athens, WV., to the late John Spurgeon Ferrell and Anna Bivens Ferrell. Suellen was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Francis Hodges and sister, Alice Ferrell Moore.
She is survived by her children, Keller Hodges Sadler, Kris Hodges and Kevin Hodges; son-in-law, Greg Sadler; grandchildren, Jordyn Sadler, Noah Sadler, Tristan Johnson-Hodges, Chloe Johnson-Hodges, Jasper Hodges, Emma Hodges and Josiah Hodges; her beloved nieces, Mary Moore, Sue Hanson and Sally Nelson; and many beloved great-nieces and nephews.
Suellen loved her family, traveling with friends from Memphis, VT Football tailgates and Concord University, where she was active with the alumni association. She was a huge supporter of FloydFest and was a "professional volunteer" with many organizations, including one close to her heart, RAYSAC.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2022, at Oakey's South Chapel. A private burial in Forest Hill, WV, will follow on Saturday, January 7, 2022.
