Sherry Ann Kirk, age 65, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away Sunday, the 17th of July.


Sherry was born on the 11th of December, 1956 in Welch, WV and grew up surrounded by her large family. Sherry was influenced by her family and husband to be a loving and caring woman, always giving herself and time to others; she incorporated that into her motherhood, grandmother hood, and career as a bus driver for the McDowell County Board of Education.

Sherry devoted herself to so many families throughout the 35 years she safely drove the children of McDowell Co. to and from school and after school activities. She became a mentor and friend to many of her drivers up until she retired as Chief of the Welch Bus Shop, in Welch, WV. After retirement she went on to become an honor student at Bluefield State College where she often made the Dean's list.

Sherry married her loving husband Ballard J Kirk, Jr. of English, WV on the 26th of October, 1976. They knew they shared a love for family and decided to start one of their own in 1977 with the birth of their son BJ Kirk, lll, son Don Kirk the following year, and their only daughter Lori (Kirk) Marek in 1983.

As a mother and grandmother she was generous, understanding, loving, and kind. She spoiled her grandchildren as much as she possibly could. In her free time Sherry loved to spend time with her grandchildren, children, sisters, and other family as often as possible. Sherry believed that family was most important and forgiveness should always be given freely.

She will be greatly missed by her family, especially her triplet sisters Shelia and Sharon, sisters, Connie Marshall of Texas, Peggy Boothe of Salem, VA, Mabel Walton of Bluefield, WV and Virginia Shrader of Tazewell, VA; brothers, Roy Shrader of War, WV and Allen Shrader of NC; two sons BJ and Don, daughter Lori, nephews Chris Wagoner, and Kenneth Mullins, nieces Francis Mullins Johnson, Toneshia Mullins Deel, and Cora Mullins, daughter-in-law Betty Kirk of Iaeger, son-in-law Marc Marek of Princeton, and her grandchildren Cameron and Rhaegan Falls, Brody, Braylee, Brielle, and Brynnae Kirk, who adore her with all their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ballard, her granddaughter Bryndall Kirk, sister Anita Shrader, brother Clement Shrader, parents Roy and Cora Shrader, niece Chasity Cassady, nephews Charles and John Wagoner, and brother-in-law Roger Baker.

There will be a service for those who like to say their last goodbye to Sherry on Saturday the 23rd of July, at 6pm, Yukon Pentecostal Holiness Church, Yukon, WV. Funeral services the following day at 1pm with Rick Muncy, Roger Hale and Lacy Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at the Shrader Cemetery Bartley #3.
