Princeton - Sharon Gale Williams, 73, of Princeton, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Welch, West Virginia, to Rev. Douglas and Dorothy Williams.
Sharon was a graduate of Princeton High School and Concord College where she earned degrees in education and business. She retired from the Social Security Administration Office in Welch, West Virginia, in 2012.
Sharon became a Christian at an early age and continued to live her entire life as a faithful follower and servant of Christ. She was a member of Carswell Community Church near Kimball, West Virginia, where she was the church pianist for several years. She had a love of music and used her talent singing gospel songs alongside her father in church for many years.
In Sharon's later years, while being mostly confined to her home, she would take part, by telephone, in Bible studies with friends. She often called others to encourage and uplift their spirits through scriptures and singing. Sharon was a cheerful giver who sometimes, even anonymously, gave to others to help meet their needs whether it be financial or material.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ben Dunford.
She is survived by one brother Douglas Williams, Jr. and his wife Dr. Janis of Mount Hope, West Virginia, and two sisters, Peggy Mitchell, and Rena Hall and her husband Rick, both of Princeton, West Virginia, nieces and nephews ... Nikki Beasley, Aaron Williams, Ashley Williams, Jessica Basham, Allison Williams-Sumpter, Amanda Shrewsbury, Jeff Mitchell, Jennifer Stoner, and also her special cousin Donald Williams who faithfully visited her and always brought words of encouragement, prayers of hope, and many meals.
Sharon was truly blessed to have loving and compassionate caretakers in the last many months of her home confinement who became like family .... a dear friend, Margaret Shrewsberry, Becky Williams, Mary Farley, Alice Fisher, Sherry Martin, Sarah Wynn, and Janet Shrewsbury. There are not enough words to let them know how much their kindness meant to Sharon and her family.
Many thanks to Sharon's church family and relatives and friends who continually called her and sent cards and letters, never wavering.
The family wants to thank the nurses with Amedisys, her primary care physician, Dr. Nicholas Muscari, and his assistant, and vascular surgeon, Dr. Herbert Oye, and his office assistants. Sharon truly appreciated Dr. Oye for his never ending care and attention in
trying to help her regain her health.
