Roy Powell, 65, of Bluefield, WV passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Roy was born January 22, 1958, in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Oliver Don and Mary Belle Shrader Powell. He was a coal miner and an over the road truck driver. Roy was a loving husband, father, and papaw who adored his grandchildren. Roy was a member of the Valley View Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved his late dog, Nikki. Roy was raised by the late Tom and Ethel Powell.
In addition to his parents Roy was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen, Sheila, Glendia, and Cora Ellen.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Drema Sue Powell; children, T.J. Powell and wife Sarah, Julie Duncan and husband Jason; grandchildren, Easton and Caroline Powell, and Alayana and Brady Duncan; five brothers, Glenn (Shelia) Powell, Dennis (Carol) Powell, Ray (Karen) Powell, Jeff (Teresa) Powell, and Leon Collins; two brothers-in-law, Melvin (Gail) Cline and Calvin (Bonnie) Cline; special friend, Justine Powell of Iaeger, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
In honoring the wishes of the deceased his body has been cremated and there will be no services.
Those wishing to may make donations in his memory may donate to the Saint Jude's Childrens Hospital.
Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the family.
