Robert Malcolm Harrison Obituary

Bluefield, VA - It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert M. Harrison, fondly known as Bob, who departed this world peacefully at home on March 22, 2026, after complications from a stroke.

Born on October 10, 1942, Bob graced this world with his presence for 83 wonderful years, leaving behind a legacy of love, determination, and a life richly lived.

Bob was born to Robert and Wilma Harrison, who predeceased him, as well as his brother, Danny Harrison.

Surviving siblings, Stanley Harrison & wife, Kathy, Kenny Harrison and Brenda Turpin. They were a close-knit family whose values and love shaped Bob into the remarkable man he became.

On June 23, 1962, Bob married the love of his life, Judy Proffitt. Their marriage of 63 years was a testament to enduring love and unwavering partnership. Together, Bob and Judy built a beautiful life, raising their beloved daughter, Sherri Hamden, alongside her supportive husband, Devin Hamden.

A man of boundless energy and vision, Bob was a true entrepreneur. His life's work was a testament to his dedication, resilience, and commitment to provide the very best for his family. Bob owned and operated two service stations, designed, built, and ran two skating rinks, and managed two self-storage facilities. He also built and operated a car wash, each venture a reflection of his unwavering work ethic and innate business acumen. Through every endeavor, Judy was by his side, a constant source of support and love, embodying their unity and shared dreams. Sherri, ever proud of her father's accomplishments, often remarked, "Dad, you can do anything."

Beyond his professional life, Bob loved beach trips, car shows & motorcycle rallys, but had a passion for building and restoring antique cars, a hobby that brought him immense joy. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast, riding his Harley with the wind at his back and a smile on his face. These pursuits were more than just hobbies; they were expressions of his zest for life and his appreciation for craftsmanship and adventure.

Bob will be remembered for his selflessness, his unwavering dedication to his family's comfort and happiness, and his ability to balance work with passion. His family was his greatest treasure, and every decision he made was with their well-being in mind. The love between Bob, Judy, and Sherri was palpable and profound, a testament to the beautiful, loving life they shared together.

As the Harrison family navigates this profound loss, they wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dudley Funeral Home for their compassionate support and to the skilled and kind nurses and staff of Caris Healthcare, who provided exceptional care and comfort during Bob's final days.

In honoring Bob's memory, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and enduring grace. May his spirit continue to inspire, and his memory remain a guiding light for those who knew and loved him. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of your cherished family and friends.

Although it is customary to say 'rest in peace', this is the joyful beginning of Bob's eternity. We are filled with comfort and joy knowing he is now in the glorious presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - home forever with God the Father.

A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Grandview Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Holcomb officiating. Entombment will follow the service.
