Richard (Ricky Ray) Proffitt
On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Richard (Ricky Ray) Proffitt went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
He was born November 30, 1978, in Bluefield, WV to Wanda Tiller Proffitt and the late Charles (Al) Proffitt Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Chantelle.
He is survived by his loving mother Wanda, brother, Chuck and wife Pam, sister, Candace, nephew Dakota and wife Katie, nieces Hailey and Misty. Rick will be missed by all who knew him. Among those left to cherish his memory are numerous family members and friends; two special ladies Barbara Slade and Betty Slade.
Rick was an avid outdoors-man. He especially loved fishing with his uncle Tracy, and hunting with his buddy Zach. Camping was a favorite pastime because it allowed him to enjoy God's beautiful creation. Rick's conduit to peace was a crackling campfire.
After graduating Graham High School and the Tazewell County Career and Technical Center in 1996, Rick spent the majority of his career in the mining industry. He was a heavy equipment operator, well known and respected for his uncanny ability to drive most anything with speed and precision.
At Rick's request and respecting his wishes, his body was cremated. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 1 PM at Zion's Hill Baptist Church, 38195 Governor G C Peery Hwy, Bluefield, VA. Pastor Ricky Stacy will be officiating.
