Richard E. "Dick" Meadows Obituary

Richard E. "Dick" Meadows, 73, of Fort Chiswell, Virginia, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 15, 2021, after a three year battle with multiple myeloma.

Dick was born in Fireco, West Virginia, the youngest son of the late Lewis and Helen Meadows.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles and his sister Ann.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 35 years, Goldie, his daughter, Lisa Graziano of Charlottesville, Virginia; son Stacy Perkins and wife Michelle of Wytheville, Virginia; his son Steven Perkins and wife Amanda of Princeton, West Virginia; and seven grandchildren: Olivia, Elaine and Anna Graziano, all of Charlottesville, Stephanie Perkins of Nashville, Tennessee, Zachary Perkins of Wytheville, and Lacey and Ethan Perkins of Princeton, West Virginia. His grandchildren knew him simply as "Granddaddy" and each hold special memories of their time with him. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Nella Easterling of Bruton, Alabama; Minnie Lundgren of Canyon Lake, Texas; Rob Warden of Lindside, West Virginia; Teddy Warden and wife Virginia of Montcalm, West Virginia; and Bonnie Cericola and husband Robert John of Carroll, Ohio; Jerry Warden and wife Nancy of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews, and people who called him a "true friend".

Dick was most recently employed by Musser Lumber Company of Rural Retreat. Dick enjoyed his work but he also loved to travel and was never afraid to take a detour if a road sign offered the promise of something new to see and explore. He enjoyed fishing and camping with family and a good card game with friends. Dick was a real "people person" and never met a stranger, making conversation quickly and easily with absolutely anyone. Dick loved all types of music and would frequently launch into a round of "Name that Tune" with anyone who would play along.

Dick knew and loved his Lord. He was a member of the Fort Chiswell Church of God. Most importantly, Dick "walked the walk." He did not just believe but he put his belief into action. If he saw a need, he was quick to lend a hand or give what he could, often anonymously. There was not anything he wouldn't do for anyone in need and his kindness has been repaid many times over since the onset of his illness.

His family is grateful for all the help, calls, texts, and support, particularly in recent weeks.

A memorial service will be conducted 7:00pm Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Fort Chiswell Church of God, 1193 Fort Chiswell Road, Max Meadows, VA, with Pastor Kenny Quesenberry officiating.

We end this obituary with Dick's signature salutation to his family and loved ones...
