Raymond Jennings "J.R." Whittaker, 33, of 231 Burch Street in Athens, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at his residence. Born Oct. 19, 1978 in Princeton he was the son of Raymond W. Whittaker Jr. and Betty Jo Fry Whittaker of Athens. J.R. was a graduate of PikeView High School and was a former heating and air conditioning technician. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton. Additional survivors include one daughter, Madison Brooke Whittaker of Princeton; one sister, Kelly Marie Whittaker of Athens; and two nieces, McKenna Marie Ellison and Maeghan Alivia Ellison. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Father Paul Wharton officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley. Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Cook, Doug Cook, Ambrose "Butch" Schitter, Adam Watts, Casey Thompson, and Randall Veneri. Honorary pallbearers will be John Willis and Emanuel Arellano. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the service hour on Wednesday.
