Ralph Gerald "Fuzz" Childress, 82 years of age of North Tazewell, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Odra Anna (Viers) Childress.

He was a longtime resident of Tazewell County and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, enjoyed gardening and was a disabled coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1-Son: Timothy Dean Childress; 1-Sister: Bernice (Roger) Gilbert.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62-years 11-months and 8-days: Nellie O'Quinn Childress of North Tazewell, VA; 1-Son: Gerald Scott (Patricia) Childress of North Tazewell, VA; Daughter-in-Law: Teresa Childress Mullins of Shortt Gap Mountain, VA; Sister: Yvonne (Rex) Cole of North Tazewell, VA; 3-Grandsons: Scotty (Amanda) Childress of Vansant, VA, Robert (Chrissie) Childress of Phoenix, AZ, Jefferey Childress of Lynn Camp, VA; 2-Granddaughters: Deana (Brandon) Gilbert of Asheville, NC, Tracy Johnson of Lebanon, VA.

Also, survived by 7-Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at his residence on Slope Street, North Tazewell, VA, Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Graveside Rites for Ralph Gerald "Fuzz" Childress will be conducted Monday, March 15, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at the Childress & Viers Cemetery, North Tazewell with Elders: Gerald Childress, Willard Owens and Kent Viers officiating with burial to follow.

Active Pallbearers will be Scotty Childress, Jeffery Childress, Brandon Gilbert, John Woods, Allan Thompson, James Sparks and John Viers.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Robert Childress.
