Patricia Marra Wimmer of Elizabethton, Tennessee, formerly of Bluefield, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Sycamore Springs Assisted Living Community at the age of eighty-five. Patricia was born May 7, 1939, in Bluefield, West Virginia, to the late John and Alice Fortune Marra. In addition to her parents, Patricia was also preceded in death by her husband, William Wimmer.
Patricia retired from First Century Bank, Bluefield, West Virginia, but had previously been employed at Bluefield State University for 25 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Bluefield State College and her master's degree from the West Virginia University College of Graduate Studies. She loved learning new things and guiding students with their life decisions. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Bluefield, West Virginia where she had served in many capacities including choir member, children's church teacher and altar committee. Patricia was a member of DAR, the National Honor Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Garden Club. She loved sitting on her porch with her husband and watching her neighbors. Patricia also loved reading her Bible, crocheting and crossword puzzles. Most of all, Patricia loved the Lord and her family and spending as much time as possible with her loved ones.
Patricia leaves behind to continue her legacy her daughters, Catherine (Patrick Anderson) Wimmer of Bristol, TN and Alice Anne (Bobby) Goodman of Elizabethton; her son, John (Kristan) Wimmer of Bluefield, WV; her beloved grandchildren: Will (Cera) Smith of St. Louis, MO, Randi Goodman (Jeff Thompson) of Johnson City, TN, Parker (Chasity) Anderson of Bristol, TN, Peyton and Bryce Wimmer of Morgantown, WV, Jayden (Taylor Candler) Bailey of Bluefield, WV, Brayden Wimmer of Korea, and Kynni Wimmer of Bluefield, WV; her great grandchildren: Liam Smith and Maggie Mae Smith of St. Louis, MO, Landon Smith of MN, Carson and Penelope Anderson of Bristol, TN and Milani Rae Bailey and Tamarious Brown of Bluefield, WV. Patricia is also survived by her sister Margaret Marra of Bluefield, Virginia, her brothers John Marra of South Boston, Virginia, and Al (Cathie) Marra of Midland, Michigan. Her sister-in-law, Nancy Baker of Bluefield, WV and her brother-in-law Roger Wimmer of NC and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Patricia.
Visitation and service for Patricia Wimmer will be Saturday, March 29, 2025. 11am-12noon is the visiting hour, service from 12noon-1pm, with reception to follow service at Christ Episcopal Church, 200 Duhring Street, Bluefield, WV
