Paris A. Mitchem, 84, of Abbs Valley, VA passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at his home. He was the son of the late Paris N. Mitchem and Bertha Graham Mitchem.

Paris was a proud retired Marine Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children Jerry, James, Mary and Timmy Mitchem; siblings Junior, Dorothy, Kathryn, Roy, Don, Joan "Bic" and Dolly Mae and wife Shirley Grose Mitchem.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Julie Ann Hubbard (Willis) of Bluefield, VA; brother Russell "Jack" Mitchem (Dicie) of Charleston, WV. Grandchildren Jennifer Smith (Joseph), Amy Spencer (Jordan) and Michael Hubbard (Meaghan) all of Bluefield, VA, Kristie Harless Herscher of Boissevain, VA, Michael Mitchem of Bland, VA, Jessica Mitchem of Yadkenville, NC, Westley Mitchem (Sloane) of Jonesville, NC and Storm Mitchem. Great grandchildren Abby, Adysen, Allie Jo, Alexandria, Jaxson, Rance, Sidney, Kholie, Jillian, Bristol, Presley and Sawyer. Special niece Renee of Pageton, WV and his companion Trula Baldwin. Sister in-law Carolyn Mitchem of Pageton, WV.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Rev. Regianld Blakewood officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Family Cemetery in Abbs Valley, VA. Full military rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Honor Guard.
