GRUNDY, Va - Pamela Jayne McClanahan Snead age 54 of Grundy, Virginia passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at her home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer.

Born October 30, 1961 at Richlands, Virginia, she was the daughter of Maurene Keen McClanahan of Bristol, Virginia and the late Ervin Harold McClanahan.

She was a graduate of Grundy Senior High School, Southwest Virginia Community College's Radiology Program and University of North Carolina's Sonography Program. Pamela was employed by Buchanan General Hospital since 1982 working in the Radiology Department until a year ago, when she retired due to her illness. She worked diligently for Buchanan County Relay for Life since its inception. Pamela had a love for music and concerts, visiting Smith Mountain Lake, Her pets, planting flowers and all things involving her children, family and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters Jayne and Rachel.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her Husband of 28 Years - Jim Snead of Grundy, Virginia. One son Blake Snead of Grundy, Virginia. One Daughter Dana Jo Snead of Grundy, Virginia. Two Brothers Ervin Harold McClanahan, Jr. of Abingdon, Virginia, Gary Wayne McClanahan and wife Cindy of Venice, Florida. A loving Sister Teresa Fletcher of Grundy, Virginia. Her two best friends Robin Looney Ratliff and Bev Cook Thompson.

Funeral services for Pamela Snead will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 1 PM at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia with Rev. Eugene Whited officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia.

The family will receive friends, Saturday evening 6 PM at the Virginia Funeral Home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Snead, Jr., John Russell Snead, Johnny Fletcher, Ronnie Ratliff, Dale Blankenship, Ben McClanahan, W.J. Caudill, and Marty Dale.

Serving as honorary Pallbearers will be Radiology Staff of Buchanan General Hospital, Karen Boyd Snead, Debi Stiltner Blankenship, Ruchelle Thornsbury and Liz Justus and Staff of Special Care Hospice and Home Health Care.

The Family requests donations be made to the Pamela McClanahan Snead Scholarship Fund for Southwest Virginia Community College's Radiology Department. The donations may be sent to 2072 Booth Branch Road, Grundy, Virginia.
