Mrs. Sylvia Smith Obituary

Tuesday, February 1, 2022, Our Beautiful Angel Mrs. Sylvia Smith, 83, of Princeton WV, gained her wings.

Sylvia was born in Brooklyn WV on September 7, 1938, to the late Goldie Brooks Gore and Eula Walker Gore. Sylvia was educated in Summers County WV. She continued her education through Technical Center of Mercer County and Concord College.

Sylvia married the late Sidney Smithers. God blessed this union with 41 years and 5 devoted daughters. Sylvia was a wonderful homemaker who ensured her family was taken care of before entering the workforce. Sylvia was employed with Mercer County Commission on Aging for 20 years before retiring due to health issues.

Sylvia devoted her life to Jesus and her family. She was a member of Saunders Grove Baptist Church and attended Harvest Outreach.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brothers: Carrol Williams, William (JoeBoy) Gore, and Goldie Gore; and great granddaughter Destiny Roland.

Left to cherish Sylvia's precious memories are her husband of 22 years, Vernard Smith; daughters: Nina Eubanks, Rita (Tony) Roland, Cynthia O'Neal, Rebecca Smithers (fiancé-Stephan), and Sydney Shanklin; stepchildren: Michelle Dewitt, Sherrie Byrd, Eric (Britany), Vermish Smith, and Vermisha Smith; grandchildren: George Roland, Jerry (Jessica) McConnell, Sidney Roland, Jeffery (Courtney) O'Neal, Tremayne (Jennifer) Smithers, Keisha (Nakia) Hooper, Sylvia Taylor, Jamie Eubanks, Jarrett O'Neal, Elizabeth Taylor, Habakkuk Smithers, Paulina Miller, Anthony Taylor, and Mary Ace; 6 step-grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Roberta Gore, Elva (Arnold) Palmer, Mary Gore (Butch), Linda Gore, and Drucella Gore; sister in law Melba Taylor; special friends Mildred Stevens and Betty Rogers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Homegoing celebration will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at The Faith Center Church, 102 Federal Street, Bluefield, WV. Viewing will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
