Mr. Bobby Gene Hamm
PRINCETON - Mr. Bobby Gene Hamm 85 of Princeton passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 following a courageous battle with black lung and heart disease. He was born April 6, 1934 in Bluefield to the late Frank and Ruby Williams Hamm.
Mr. Hamm grew up in Bluefield and later moved to Princeton where he resided for over 45 years. He was a member of Maple View Church of Christ in Bluefield. Mr. Hamm worked for the City of Bluefield for nine years, Reid Belt and Rubber Company for 20 years, and Jim Hamm's Splicing Company of Bluefield for four years.
Bobby enjoyed fishing trips to the beach with his fishing buddies and returned from one this past Sunday. He enjoyed hunting and telling stories of his life. Most of all, he loved his family along with his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Terri Kidd and brother Jackie Hamm.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Oreda "Rita" Blackmon Hamm of the residence, one son Bobby Lee Hamm and wife Tressie of Bluefield, two daughters, Karen Kay Roberts and husband Riley of Mississippi, Barbara Hamm Welch and husband Sam of Madison, NC, five grandchildren Christopher Hamm, Rae Manning, Taylor Hamm, Jared Hamm, and Chase Welch and one brother Jerry Hamm of Walnut Cove, NC.
A Celebration of Bobby's life will be held at 2pm Monday at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Caleb Penwell and Minister Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 1:00pm until time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bobby's name to Maple View Church of Christ Youth Group, 194 Robins Rest Road, Bluefield, WV 24701.
