Mary Frances Washington-Johnson (lovingly nicknamed Faye) died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. Faye was born to the late Robert and Mary Alice Elliott on August 14, 1949 in Welch, West Virginia. Her grandparents were the late John and Tishie Hairston.
Faye was the second oldest of eight children. She was educated in the McDowell County Schools. She moved to New Jersey at an early age where she met her late husband, Lee Roy Washington. They were married for over 30 years.
Faye is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, four uncles, three aunts, one niece, one nephew and a host of other relatives.
Faye accepted God as her creator and held steadfast to her faith. She worked in the health care field and loved helping people. She was an extremely hard-working woman and took great pride in her work. She loved listening to music and watching movies. Later in life she met and married Lawrence Johnson.
Faye leaves to cherish her memory: Husband, Lawrence Johnson, Two sisters: Henrietta Nickerson of Princeton, West Virginia, and Yolanda (Tevis) Hale of Bluefield, West Virginia; Five brothers: Michael Elliott of Maybeury, West Virginia, Phillip Elliott of Bluefield, West Virginia, Lysander (Sharon) Elliott of Austin, Texas, Maurice Elliott of Charlotte, North Carolina, Bishop Michael Dickerson of Columbus, Ohio, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the McConnell Funeral Home Chapel.
