MAYBEURY — Marie Elena Acord, age 73, of Maybeury, WV died on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on February 17, 1945 in Switchback, WV, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Martin Spinella. She had lived Maybeury and Elkhorn for the past 20 years and was a member of the Maybeury Church of God. She was also a member of the church choir and Ladies Ministries. She also sang for many funerals in the area. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Ray Acord; sisters, Josephine Bell, Kathleen Spinella, Jeanette Boyd and Lucy Spinella; and brothers, Frank, James, Tony, Joe, and Charles Spinella. Survivors: Son: Kevin Acord and wife Mary of Blaine, MN; Brother: Curtis Spinella and wife Nicki of Ghent, WV; Sister: Rose Osborne of Willis TX; 2 grandchildren: Sophia and Maleah Acord; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Maybeury Church of God in Maybeury with Rev. Kenneth Abram, Rev. Dolly Sexton and Rev. Ken Bogart officiating. Entombment will follow at the Woodlawn Mausoleum in Bluewell where her family and friends will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell and at the church one hour prior to the service.
