Lori Lee Simpson Obituary

Bluefield, WV - Lori Lee Simpson, 46, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, following a long illness. She was born December 05, 1979, in Bluefield, WV, and was the daughter of Melissa Wallace Simpson and Charles Lee Simpson. Lori was raised and baptized in the Christian faith and was always eager to learn more about the Lord. Morning devotions, praise and worship music and evening prayers were very much a part of her life. Her prayers included, "Jesus, when I die, I want to live in heaven with you." Her journey is now complete. Lori graduated from Graham High School in 1998. She attended Mercer County Technical Center in Princeton, WV, where she completed the coursework and passed her examination for the National Phlebotomy Certification. She also completed the Nursing Assistant Program at Wytheville Community College. Over the years, Lori worked for Rescare Home Care in Princeton, WV, Asbury Place Nursing Home in Wytheville, VA, Babies R Us in Winston-Salem, NC and several locations for Kroger. She was a hard-working individual who loved going over and beyond her responsibilities in order to help others. One of Lori's greatest gifts was knowing how to love others unconditionally. Her mother, Melissa Simpson and Randy Yost, who loved her as if she was his own daughter, saw who Lori really was, as they cared for her during her good days and the many days of sickness. She loved with a sweet spirit, was kind to others, helped others in need and tried to see the good in everyone, no matter how they treated her. Her heart was full of forgiveness.

She is survived by her mother, Melissa Simpson and Randy Yost both of Bluefield, VA; her sister: Kelly Bennington and husband, Kevin of Athens, WV; two nieces: Britney Witham of Roanoke, VA and Linsey Umberger of Athens, WV; her nephew: Kole Bennington of Athens, WV; great niece and nephew: Rylee and Carson Bogle both of Roanoke, VA; her father: Charles Simpson of South Carolina.
