Lawrence E. "L.E." Burton, 80, of Black Oak Road, Princeton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Ada on April 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Lawrence Elisha and Lydia Brown Burton. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1911 in Beckley and was a member of the Fairview Christian Community in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Burton; and one daughter, Patricia Burton; four brothers, Dennis, John, Orville and Richard Burton; and two sisters, Frances Bennett and Mildred Sousers. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sadie Mathena Burton; two children, Bobby Burton and wife Brenda and Donna Hall and husband Gary, both of Princeton; one Goddaughter, Veronica Brooks, also of Princeton; ten grandchildren, Amanda, Kevin, Brooke, Elijah, Cierra, Jacob, Jessica, Tina, Trampus and Becky; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Addison, Meaghan and Shyann; one brother, Russell Burton and wife Marie of Evington, Va.; special caregivers, Hospice Compassus. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with the Reverend David Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
