Morgantown, WV - Joshua David Lasker, 54, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away on April 27, 2025. Josh was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He married Judith Gallegos in October 2001 in a joyful celebration in Mexico, surrounded by family and friends. He was the proud father of Ana and David Lasker and his faithful companion, Obi. Josh cherished his family deeply and valued the strong bonds he shared with his loved ones throughout his life.


Josh is survived by his wife, Judith Gallegos Lasker; his children, Ana and David Lasker; his father, Bruce Lawrence Lasker; his mother, Rose Newsom Lasker; his mother-in-law, Esther Zita Cartagena de Gallegos and his siblings Leah Lasker Summers; Aaron and Nikki Lasker; Jonny and Heather Lasker; Katie Lasker and Greg Adkins; Esther Zita Gallegos de Ruiz and Mario Ruiz; Marisela Gallegos de Martinez and Elias Issac Martinez and Saul Gallegos Cartagena and Rosario Nunez de Gallegos. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Holton, Jackson, and Preston Summers; Kay Ann, Hill and Madison Lasker; Brandon Lasker; Alejandra and Christian Ruiz Gallegos; Sara and Elias Martinez Gallegos and Frida Susana and Emiliano Gallegos Nunez. Additionally, he is survived by a stepsister Chea Gibson and her husband Jack, along with step nieces Destiny Shepard, Megan Rivera and Lakyn Fowler; and nephews Mark Meadows; Ben, Eric and Jared Spry; Patrick Mercer and Tanner and Conner Lockwood. He is also survived by his great aunt, Lucy Katz and his great uncle, Fred Lasker. He also had numerous close friends, whom he regarded as family.


He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Patricia Reedy Lasker; his brother, Christopher Reed Lasker; his maternal grandparents, Clara Lawrence and William Hill Newsom; his paternal grandparents, Anna and Hyman Lasker; and his father-in-law, Bernabe Gallegos Castillo. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his step siblings Kellena Meadows, Kelly Buskell and Wendy Spry as well as a nephew Adam Meadows.


Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Josh was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Bluefield, West Virginia. A gifted student, he graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1988, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Vanderbilt University in 1992, and went on to receive his Master of Science degree in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997.


Josh began his career as a plant biologist at Bard Healthcare in Reynosa, Mexico, in 2000. He later built a distinguished career in quality systems, working at Fresenius Medical Care in Toledo, Ohio, and Redmond, Washington, where he served as Director of Quality Systems - Concentrates. In 2011, Josh joined Mylan (now Viatris) as Director of Global Quality Systems, where he continued to make a significant impact in his field.


Josh will most assuredly be remembered by those who knew him, regardless of whether they had known him for a lifetime or for a conversation. Josh always made time for his loved ones, and he found joy in being with his family and friends and his beloved dog, Obi. He loved the outdoors, and in addition to numerous trails throughout the country, he hiked every trail in Cooper's Rock State Forest. He especially loved to hike with his family and Obi on weekends.


Music played an important role in his life, having spent countless hours playing guitar and practicing songs on the piano. Josh's personal collection of records consisted of rare finds, new releases, and records that he came across while browsing at the local stores. He encouraged and supported his children in music, never missing a recital or audition. Living in Morgantown, he regularly attended WVU football games with family and friends. He loved to travel with his wife and children and took great care in planning each trip so that they would have a memorable experience.


Josh was loved amongst his family, friends, colleagues, and those who knew him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father who loved his children unconditionally, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
