Glenwood - Joe Sherrill Barnett, 88, of Glenwood passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Princeton Health Care Center. Born January 2, 1938 in Sandlick, WV, he was the son of the late Sherrill Glen Barnett and Nellie Edith Smith Barnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Reverend Mark Barnett; brother, David Barnett; and sister, Saundra Barnett.

Joe was a 1956 graduate of Bramwell High School. He retired from Lowe's in 2000 and formerly worked for Rish Equipment and Princeton Armature Company. Joe was an active member of Carr Methodist Church in Glenwood, where he was a member of the Methodist Men. He was a former member of Sandlick Methodist Church during his childhood. He was an avid bowler at Mountaineer Lanes in Bluefield and volunteered at Princeton Community Hospital for several years. Joe was a former member of the Mercer County 4-H club, the Boy Scouts of America, and Princeton Kiwanis. He loved woodworking and growing a beautiful garden, especially tomatoes.

Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Stovall Barnett of Princeton; one son, Gregory Barnett of Princeton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A funeral service to honor Joe's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Reverend Gerald Roberts officiating.
