Jimmie B. "Jim Bo" Lester, 84, of Rural Retreat, Va., passed away early Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1927 in West Virginia, the son of the late Blaine and Maxie Keen Lester. Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Eugene Keen Lester; sons, Berlin Junior Lester, Bennie Lester; a daughter, Truby Blankenship; also several brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his family. Surviving are his children, Ruth and Dolliver Wess of Pounding Mill, Va., Carson and Vickie Lester, Carol and James Laney, all of Rural Retreat, Va., Terry Lester of New Jersey, Johnny Lester of Bland, Va.; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Myrtle Addison of Rural Retreat, Va. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Rural Retreat Baptist Church with the Reverend Jason McNeese officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church.
