Jerry Cecil Gravely, 84, of Pocahontas, VA passed away February 2, 2024 peacefully at his home. Born in Pocahontas, VA he was the son of the late Cecil Gravely and Ruth Tolley Gravely. He was a 1958 graduate of Pocahontas High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He went on to work at GM in Wilmington, Delaware where he retired after 32 years and moved to Pocahontas, VA. Jerry loved the Lord and his family. He served his community and was part of many organizations. These include, President of the Athletic Boosters Club for Pocahontas High School for 2 years, member of the Tyler 240 Lodge, member of Clinch Valley Community Action, Member of the Pocahontas Exhibition Coal Mines Committee, Commander and lifetime member of the American Legion Post #14, Appalachian ADC for Senior Citizens, Tourist Trade Authority Treasurer, President of the Emma Yates Memorial Library Board, and lifetime member of the Delaware State Sportsman Association.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Noack and Carol Agee and also his son Barry Moye.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years Helen Gravely of the home; children, Angela Craft of Salem, VA, Stephanie Gravely of Delaware, Beverly Moye of Delaware, Blaine Hill (Edith) of Pocahontas, VA, Kim Sapp (Darren) of Florida, 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A special thank you to caregiver Pam Cranfill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Pastor Harold Chinsolo, Pastor Charles Scruggs and Pastor Victor and Mary Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday February 10, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Full military rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Joey Moye, Cody Hill, CJ Craft, Alex Marrs, Luke Hill, Kevin Hill and Scotty Sayers. Honorary pallbearer will be Blaine Joseph Quesenberry.
