Janice Ritter Hayes
Janice Ritter Hayes, 90 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, November 21, 2019.
Born in Tazewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Philip Claybourn Bailey Ritter and Carrie Lou Mundy Ritter. She was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ. She had retired from Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She loved working in her flower garden and cooking for her family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Janice had a good sense of humor and was an inspiration to others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Frank Pierce Hayes; sons: William Hayes and Jeffrey Hayes; siblings: Ella Kate Snell, Harriet Spurgeon, Evelyn Beavers, Kathleen Ritter, Effie Mae Ritter, Roy Ritter and Roger Ritter; sons-in-law: Glenn Miller and Thomas Durham.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Carl Hayes of Eatonton, GA, Freda Shrader and husband, Herman of Tazewell, VA, Wilma Shrader and husband, Raymond of Church Hill, TN, Linda Durham of Bailey Switch, VA, Brenda Miller of Tip Top, VA, Elaine Dillard and husband, Alvin of Wytheville, VA and Elizabeth Gentle and husband Sam of Bailey Switch, VA; daughter-in-law: Cathy Hayes of Bluefield, VA; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; numerous great great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Janice's life will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Minister Steve Moran officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, VA. Benjamin Hayes, Gary Shrader, Michael Shrader, Joshua Dillard, James (J.J.) Hubbard, Newton Durham, Cody Musick and Jack Durham will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Shrader, Jr., Grant Shrader, David Young and Max Weaver.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Dudley Memorial from 6-8 P.M.
