Jamie Ray "J.R." Coleman, age 76, of the Thompson Valley Community in Tazewell, Va., died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, Va. Born September 14, 1935 in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late Johnny Holden Coleman and Ethel Rena Dye Coleman. He was a retired coal miner. Mr. Coleman attended Bandy Freewill Baptist Church in Bandy, Va. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Meadows, Genevieve Perkins, Velva Meadows, and Nola Hess; four brothers, Delmas Coleman, Junior Coleman, Don Coleman, and Hubert Coleman. He is survived by his wife, Polly Sparks Coleman; one brother, Eulis Coleman and companion, Susie Hess of Pocahontas, Va.; and one grandchild, Ariel Andicot. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Sam Altizer and the Reverend Danny Starling officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, Va. Men of the Bandy Freewill Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
