James Edward "J.W." Ward GAITHERSBURG, Md. - James Edward "J.W." Ward, age 66 of Gaithersburg, Md., formerly of Canebrake, W.Va., passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital in Everett, Pa. He was born June 13, 1946 to the late James Ellis Ward and Cora Faye Hodges Ward formerly of Canebrake, W.Va. James was a US Navy veteran. He worked as a welder and sign fabricator. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3509 of Gaithersburg, Md. His interests were football, golf, fishing, darts, shuffleboard, and he participated in many tournaments. He enjoyed singing and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was loved and will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Moore Ward; one son, Brian Lee Ward; one brother, Ronald Lee Ward. He is survived by one son, James E. Ward, Jr. and one daughter, Sheila Kay Ward, both of Gaithersburg, Md.; four brothers, Terry, David, and Howard Ward, all of Stanley, N.C., and Billy Ward, of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sisters, Mary Wilson, of Laurel, Md., Beulah Coddington, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Ocie Marie Miller, of Everett, Pa., and Connie Ward Snider of Germantown, Md. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, Va., with the Reverend Lester Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, W.Va. Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Barns Beavers VFW Post No. 7136 of Tazewell, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013.
