Hugh Franklin Puckett, Sr.
Hugh Franklin Puckett, Sr., age 84 of the Witten Valley community of Tazewell, VA died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his home. Born February 11, 1935 in Tazewell County, VA, he was a son of the late Reese David Puckett and Amanda Biddie Caudill Puckett.
He was a member of Bundy's Chapel Baptist Church in Witten Valley, a longtime employee with VDOT and retired as an inspector in 1989. He was a fifty year member of the Tazewell Masonic Lodge #62 AF & AM. Hugh was an avid Oakland Raider and Bill Elliot NASCAR fan. Above all, he loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Hugh Puckett, Jr., four brothers, one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley W. Puckett; his son, Donnie R. Puckett and wife, Kim of Roanoke, VA; daughter in law, Donna Puckett of Tazewell, VA; brother, Paul Puckett and wife, Deloris of Falls Church, VA; grandchildren, Ryan Puckett, Jake Puckett, and Erin Martin; great grandchildren, Ryan Puckett, Jr., Kaylee Jo Puckett, and Anna Grace Puckett; several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA. Graveside services and Masonic Services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Those planning to attend services are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Monday for procession. Pallbearers are Ryan Puckett, Jake Puckett, Ronnie Puckett, Reese Puckett, Bobby Lowe, and Danny Willis. Honorary pallbearers are Vic Hall, Tom Kinser, and Billy Lowe.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Bundy's Chapel Baptist Church, C/O Christine Kinser, Treasurer, 2776 Clearfork Rd., Tazewell, VA 24651.
