Hugh S. Adams, 71, of Bluefield, WV, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home.

Born March 15, 1946 in Mercer Co., WV, he was a son of the late Harman Adams and June Hollins Adams. Mr. Adams was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bluefield. He was a graduate of Bluefield College where he was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was a 1969 graduate of V.P.I. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Adams worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He loved sports and was an avid Hokie fan, and he was also an enthusiastic car buff.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Nancy Jackson Adams; one son, Jimmy Adams of Vienna, VA; one step-daughter, Jena Veloz of Fredericksburg, VA; one brother, Steve Adams and wife Amanda of Princeton, WV; step-grandchildren, Gabby and Eli Veloz; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Brown officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
