Hilda Marie Carter, age 91 of Pocahontas, VA passed away Tuesday October 3, 2023. Born in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of the late Carl and Marie Tweedale of Baltimore, MD. Hilda was a homemaker and member of the Pocahontas Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Carter, her daughters Sheila C. Jones and Charlene C. Moye. Infant son Charles T. Carter, grandson Adam Harry, brothers Frederick Tweedale, Carl Tweedale, Jr. and sister in law Susan Tweedale. Sons-in-law Michael Murphy and Barry Moye.

Survivors: son, Jim Carter and wife Jane of Bluefield, VA. Daughters Linda Harry and husband Richard of Ramseur, NC and Tina C. Murphy of Pocahontas, VA. Brother David Tweedale of Baltimore, MD. Grandchildren: Michael D. Murphy of Bluefield, WV, Katie M. Williams and husband Tom of Mt. Pleasant, SC., Aaron Carter of Green Valley, Bluefield, WV and Travis Jones of Princeton, WV. Great grandchildren: Thomas B. Williams III and Michael L. Williams of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Services will be held at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Friends may call Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pocahontas Baptist Church.
