Beckley - Herbert Frank Taylor, 94, left his earthly body for his Heavenly one on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley WV.
Dad was born in a family home place in Springville, VA, to the late Albert Clifton and Nannie Frances Carter Taylor on January 6, 1932.
He graduated from Graham High School, 1949 and joined the Army, 1952. SSG Taylor served in the Korean War as a medic.
Dad worked at Bluefield Supply, a time for the railroad, and then for United States Postal Service taking early retirement in 1992. He then worked part-time for a few years delivering auto parts, as a clerk at a dry cleaning business and delivering flowers.
Many people would see and comment to us about Dad working in the yard of their home. It was his favorite chore!
On June 16, 1956, he married Nancy Louise Hager, who preceded him in death in September 2020. Together they had two children and were members of Springville Christian till 1972 and then the remainder of their years at Mid-Way Christian Church.
Dad had a natural, beautiful, bass singing voice and loved singing with friends, family and at church, especially four part harmony hymns and gospel songs.
Those left to cherish him are we, his children...daughter Carla (Alan) Bulson and son, friend, and caregiver, Herbert "Kevin" Taylor. Dad was particularly proud of his beloved grandsons Taylor (Jessica) Bulson, and Bryce (Ashley) Bulson and his five beautiful great-grandchildren whom he lovingly adored...Nick, Evelyn, Ryder, Oliver & Clover Bulson.
He is also survived by sisters-in-law Dee Taylor and Joyce Moore, cousins, nieces, nephews, and church family and friends.
Besides our Mom and his parents, Dad was predeceased by his brother Albert William "Bill" Taylor, his in-laws G.C. and Edna Hager, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a nephew.
We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Domingo Javier, Dr. Ahmad Eter, Dr. James Mackey & staff, Adoration (Amedisys) Home Health, Clinch Valley Wound Center, Dr. Ron Billips, Bowers Hospice House, staff at Encompass Health Rehab.
Visitation and celebration will be Tuesday, February 10 at Mid-Way Christian Church, with Dan Webb officiating. Visitation will be 5:30pm till time of celebration at 7pm. Interment will be Wednesday, February 11 at 2pm at Grandview Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Bulson, Bryce Bulson, Nicholas Bulson, Chester Bratton, Andy Terry, Jimmy Blevins, with Ryder and Oliver Bulson as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Folds of Honor, supporting the children and spouses of America's fallen or disabled service members, at foldsofhonor.org.
