Helen Brant Gardner Obituary

Helen Brant Gardner, 90 years young, went to be with her Lord on September 10, 2020.

She was looking forward to seeing many of her loved ones again. Among them are her very beloved husband of 56 years Reverend Ernest Gardner, her parents Lewis Brant, Sr and Emma Frances Steele Brant, her brothers Herschel, Junior, and Sylvester, and sisters-in-law Anita and Alma.

She is survived by her daughter Susan, son-in-law Neal Kennedy, daughter Michel, son-in-law David Patterson, sister Patsy Blankenship, and many precious nieces and nephews.

Helen was a member of Summit Missionary Baptist Church of Paynesville where she served approximately 34 years as pastor's wife, and she had attended Calvary Baptist Church of Iaeger for several years. She had also been a teacher in her early married life. Helen loved people, and people adored her. One of her delights was to visit with her students from those early teaching years. It was always amazing how many of them kept in touch with her. She was a very compassionate and giving woman.

Visitation will be at Iaeger Fanning Funeral Home Saturday, October 17 at 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock with a brief celebration of remembrance immediately following with Reverend Daniel Dean and Reverend Gene Addair officiating.

Since we do not want anyone to come to harm, we will be observing wearing masks and social distancing, and anyone who is vulnerable is encouraged to join us in spirit.

Helen strongly desired to be of help to people, so even to the end, she had purpose in that she donated her body to medical education. Since there will be no burial, the family are asking that, in lieu of flowers or a recognition of love, donations be made to a local church. Helen had polio as a child and could not run and dance like others, so the ladies are invited to wear their favorite party/dancing shoes in celebration of Helen's perfect body leaping and dancing with joy in Heaven!

Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV is assisting the family.
