Hassel Ray Abshire Obituary

Hassel Ray Abshire, 71, of the Beckley Road, Camp Creek, passed away on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born in Virginia on Dec. 31, 1940, he was the son of the late Luther Abshire and Beulah Rose Abshire. He was a self-employed carpenter who enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Hassel had attended the Camp Creek Baptist Church in his earlier years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Abshire Jr. Hassel is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Abshire of Camp Creek; two children and their spouses, Barbara Farley and Larry of Lerona, and Glen Abshire and Lisa Griffey of Spanishburg; five grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Kristen Farley, Nathaniel Farley, Aaron Farley, Saxon Griffey and Karissa Griffey. Hassel is also survived by three siblings and their spouses, Dora Helen Parr and Larry, Danny Abshire and Donna, and Freddie Abshire and Dee all of Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ralph Calfee officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road in Princeton. A time of sharing with the family will be held from 12:00 noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
