H. Kelly Alvis
H. Kelly Alvis 79, of the Old Oxley Road, Athens, died Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born March 5, 1940 in Athens, he was the son of the late James Hobart and Dorothy Daphne Holdren Alvis. Kelly was educated in Athens and was a lifelong resident. He was a retired instructor for the Mercer County Board of Education, having taught at Princeton High School and the Vo-Tech Center for more than 22 years. Kelly was a member of Mt. Jackson Baptist Church. While his health permitted, Kelly loved to fish, hunt, work around the farm, riding his tractor, motorcycle, wood working and sitting in the swing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death five siblings, Bertie Lou Wimmer, Adeline Jewell McCallister, Billie Joe Alvis, Charles Max Alvis and Jimmy Hobart Alvis Jr. and his former son-in-law Kevin Roy.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 48 years,
Levoy Dee Webb Alvis. Three children, Todd Alan Alvis, Andrew Kelly Alvis and wife Amy, Amy Beth Alvis. Five grandchildren, Oliva Ann Alvis, Ryder A. Roy, Hannah N. Alvis, Ava Elizabeth Alvis and Renner A. Roy. Three siblings, Ted Alvis and wife Kyra, Gary Alvis and wife Linda, Drema Joy St. Clair. Several nieces and nephews.
The family has honored Kelly's request, he has been cremated.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, October 10, 2019 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Gene Hazelwood and Brad Starcher officiating.
Friends may gather Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. until the service hour to visit with the family. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com
The Alvis family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
