QUITMAN, Miss. - Grover Clifton "G.C." Barnette, age 52, of Quitman, Miss., formerly of the Dix Creek community in Tazewell County, Va., died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Meridian, Miss. Born January 15, 1958 in Hinesville, Ga., he was the son of Edith J. Beavers of Baptist Valley, Va. and the late Ernest Barnette. Mr. Barnette was of the Catholic faith. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Gulf War and retired after twenty years as Master Sergeant. In the more recent years, he worked as Public Service Manager for the Chickasawhay Gas Company in Quitman, Miss. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, W.I. and Elizabeth Millsap; paternal grandparents, James and Tela Barnette. Survivors include his wife, Andrea; his mother, Edith J. Beavers and step father, James C. Beavers of Baptist Valley, Va.; one son, Daniel Barnette of Nickelsville, Va.; five stepchildren; one stepsister; and one stepbrother. Burial will be private.
