Beartown - Glen Edward Vance, 83, of Beartown, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ August 15, 2021 within his home surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends after a long faithful battle with pancreatic cancer.

Glen was born April 17, 1938, in Jewell Ridge, VA, a son of the late Myrtle Hagerman Vance and George Edward Vance. He was an assistant pastor at the Followers of Christ-House of Prayer Church in Paynesville, WV. He sang, praised, and served the Lord as a Christian for 46 years and there was nothing he loved more than church on Sundays. He was a former coal miner, retired in 1973. He loved and enjoyed farming, gardening, working with his livestock, squirrel hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Glen also loved to raise, ride and show Standard-bred horses with his sons and grandkids.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Hershel and Vester Vance; and one sister, Nancy Vance Banners.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Patsy Ann Beavers Vance of the home; three sons Charles Vance and wife Tenia Collins Vance of Tazewell, VA; Kenneth Vance and wife Hope Viars Vance of Beartown, WV, and William Vance and wife Erin Horn Vance of Princeton WV; nine grandchildren, Ashley Vance Hagerman and husband Jeffery Hagerman of Tazewell, VA, Timmy Vance and wife Crystal Ball Vance of Tazewell, VA, Rocky Vance of Jolo, WV, Tyler Vance and fianceé Sarah Sparks of Jolo; Heather Vance Roberts and husband Cameron Roberts of Bluefield, WV, Amber Vance and fiancé Dalton Payne of Jolo, WV, Drew Reed and wife Roxanne Powers Reed of Princeton, WV and Logan and Rylee Vance of Princeton, WV; eight great grandchildren, Summer and Caleb Hagerman of Tazewell, VA, Onna Vance, Noah and Gavin Powers of Tazewell, VA, Connor, Payton and Rilynn Vance of Jolo, WV; three brothers, Eugene Vance and wife Barbara Jane Vance of Bland, VA, Freddy Vance and wife Judy Vance of Jolo, WV, Wayne Vance and wife Shelia Vance of Jolo, WV; five sisters, Gracie Stacy of Jolo, WV, Mary Kennedy and husband Larry of Rockridge, WV, Georgia Shackelford and husband Bruce Shackelford of Smithfield, VA, Geneva Hawks and husband Jerry of Carleton, MI, Rosie Vance Vandyke and husband Fred of War, WV; and a host of nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include a sister-in-law, Betty Beavers Vance of Castlewood, VA, Tiny Jean Kennedy Cline the mother of Tyler and Rocky Vance of Jolo, and very good friends Rufus and Judy Justice of Bullcreek, WV.

The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the Collins family for their continued kindness over the years.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1 o'clock with Elder Jerry Stacy, Pastor Charles Vance, Pastor Herman Day and Elder Freddie Vance officiating at the Followers of Christ-House of Prayer Church 1706 Paynesville Road, Paynesville, WV. Burial will follow in the Glen and Patsy Vance Cemetery on Beartown. Dwight Estep will sing at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Timmy Vance, Jeffery Hagerman, Tyler Vance, Rocky Vance, Cameron Roberts, Dalton Payne, Drew Reed, Roy Viars, Bruce Puckett and Logan Vance.

Friends may visit with the family Friday evening, August 20, 2021 after 6 p.m. at the Followers of Christ-House of Prayer Church in Paynesville, WV. Evening services will be held at 7 p.m.
