George T. "G.T." Nelson Obituary
George T. "G.T." Nelson, 62, of Straley Avenue, Princeton, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in a small room filled with lots of love at the home of Johnny and Debbie Hodges. His death came quickly, due to pancreatic cancer. Born June 15, 1949 at Oakvale, he was the son of the late Henry Nelson and Tiney Ann Bowers Nelson. G.T. grew up in the Fountain Park area near Oakvale where he attended school. Early on in life, G.T. loved to be outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping. Until his death, G. T. had been a loyal and dedicated member of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton for thirty-eight years. G.T. lived a simple life; his life reflected compassion and respect for his own family as well for the many families he served daily. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four legged companion, his dog Mike. Survivors include four siblings and their spouses, James B. "J.B." and Shelby Nelson, Michael and Patricia Nelson, Brenda Kay and Dale Smith, Gladys Ann and Lloyd Robbins, all of Princeton; and the Johnson family, especially his cousin, Debbie and Johnny Hodges, who opened their home to him, and were his caregivers along with Brenda, Steve and the apple of G.T.'s life, their son, Dylan; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A service to celebrate a a life well lived will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Terry Lambert, Gary Barton and Marvin Mills officiating. G.T.'s wishes have been honored, and his body has been cremated. Inurnment will be held in the Elgood Cemetery at Elgood. Urn bearers will be the staff of the funeral home.
