Geneva Stanley Moore Obituary

Geneva Stanley Moore, 93 of Abbs Valley, Virginia, peacefully went into God's loving arms following a lengthy illness on November 27, 2022.

Geneva (Jean) was born on June 23, 1929 to parents Robert Riley Stanley and Arvilla Workman Stanley. She loved being a stay-at-home Mom, being outdoors, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed reading, sewing, and staying in touch with her many loved ones, church family and friends.

She was a 68 year member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Boissevain, Virginia and served as a long-time board member, the Missions Director, Sunday school teacher, member of the Women's Ministry and enjoyed singing in the choir in years past. Geneva was strong and determined in any undertaking, so very wise in many ways, and her unfailing love touched the lives of so many people with prayers, words of wisdom and help in any way possible.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands Johnson H. Moore and Anton Drosick; daughter Carolyn Moore Dillon; grandsons Kenneth Robert Dillon, Jr. and Christopher Allen Clark and great grandchildren Victoria Stirewalt and Alexandria Somyk. Siblings Ed, Coy, Roby, Elzy, Lovella, Ruth, Agnes, Florence and two infant siblings.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her little brother Robert Riley, Jr.; daughters Barbara Moore Ray (Patrick), Audrey Moore Howell, Doris Moore (Stan); and son-in-law Kenneth Robert Dillon.

She was a proud grandmother of Joy Dillon Keene, John David Dillon, Jennifer Howell Stirewalt, Jamie Howell Workman (Barry) and Christopher Ray (Kathleen); great grandmother to Miles Donovan Hagy (Megan), Ethan Stirewalt (Taylor), Nicholas Stirewalt, Christian Workman. Sydney Kingrea, Anna Estep, Donovan Ray and Leah Mooney (Channing); great great grandmother to McKenzie and Micah Somyk, Haley and twins Donovan and Devin Cartwright and Briar Epperson. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday December 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Virginia with Pastor Charles Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum on Bluefield-Tazewell Road, Bluefield, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boissevain PH Church, P.O. 277, Pocahontas, Virginia 24635.
