Garnet Frances H. Turner "Frankie" of Cucumber passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 peacefully at the home of her sister, Juanita, in Newhall, her son holding her hand.

Frankie was born October 10, 1926 in Newhall, WV to the late Walter C. and Mabel F. Hale. Frankie was a proud graduate of Big Creek High School and was always and forever an "Owl". She was also a graduate of Wiseman's Business College in Huntington, WV. After graduation she spent several years working as an excellent secretary for Campbell's Insurance Agency in Huntington, Consolidated Bus Lines and Douglas Food Brokerage in Bluefield, WV. In 1952 she married Robert L. Turner and moved to War and was last employed as his secretary at Big Creek High School.

Frankie was a past member of the War Woman's Club, a Girl-Scout leader, a 50 year plus member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a 50 year plus member of the War United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Robert Turner, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Nathan C. and Mary Florence, Vernon C. and Pauline, John A. and JoAnne, sister and brother-in-law Mandeline and Steve Wolkovich and an infant brother Walter, Jr. Also, preceding her in death were nieces Amy McCarver, April Nieuwenhuis and nephew David Hale. Also, over the years many precious fur babies.

She is survived by her loving son, John Robert and fiancée Elishia Pierce, her sister Juanita Hale, nephew Thomas Hale, nieces Deborah Yost and Karen Hawthorn.

The family would like to send a special thank you to The Kindred Home Health staff, The Compassus Hospice staff, The Amedisys Hospice staff, the now dear family friend Natasha Prater from The McDowell County Commission on Aging and to many others who have shown their kindness and care in many ways.

Services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Virginia with Pastor Chris Vanover officiating. Friends may call 30 minutes prior with masks and COVID-19 protocol.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Frankie's name The Alzheimer's Association, The McDowell County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
