Elsie (Charles) Slone, 81 years of age of Hurley, VA, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mazie Stacy Charles.

She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, a member of Big Rock Church of Christ and former member of Blackey Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt and was a wonderful homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. (Bill) Slone (February 1, 2002), her sister, Molly Charles and her brother, Raddie Charles.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Susan Slone Sturgill of Monroe, NJ; 4-Sisters: Marie Hodge of Windsor, VA, Madge (Tracy) Church of Grundy, VA, Betty (Grant) Huneycutt of Moneta, VA, Alice Fay (Danny Ray) Hensley of Greenville, TN; 4-Brothers: Epson (Lucille) Charles of Grundy, VA, Roy Roger (Christina) Charles of Lexington, NC, Jackie Stuart (Linda) Charles of Grundy, VA, Jerry Lee Charles of Grundy, VA; Brother-in-Law: Monroe Stacy of Grundy, VA; Also, survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services for Elsie (Charles) Slone will be conducted Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be James Stacy, Larry Crouse, Kenny Charles, Jackie Charles, Roger Hurley, Scott Church and Dwayne Church.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Big Rock Church of Christ, Administration and Staff of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
