Yards, VA - My sisters and I lost our father, Ellwood Gene Thompson, 90, on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Daddy led a full life. He was born in Pocahontas Virginia and grew up in Yards, Virginia. He joined the United States Air Force and traveled all over the world with his family. He and our mom raised us with love and instilled in us a love for the Lord Jesus Christ. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. Then he served for 18 years at Mare Island Vallejo, California, where he worked on submarines. After retirement, he lived in Fairfield California, and then later relocated to the Virginia's, where he enjoyed his full retirement. It was here that he and his wife, Justine, shared a wonderful life.

A service to celebrate Ellwood's life will be held Saturday, December 06, 2025 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 12:00 noon with Minister Tony Reed officiating.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.

His body will be laid to rest at Grandview Memory Gardens in a private service for the family at a later date.
