Elizabeth Ann Atkins Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Jones Atkins passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the age of 76. She was a kind and gentle mother, as well as a beloved kindergarten teacher of 46 years. Ever proud of her children and grandchildren, she loved to show pictures, tell stories, and plan the next road trip together. Elizabeth was an animal-lover who adopted several pets and supported different pet-advocacy groups.

Elizabeth was born to Kyle and Willetta Jones and grew up in Bluewell, WV with her brothers, Kyle Jones and Byron Jones. She completed her undergraduate work at Bluefield Baptist College and Radford University and completed her master's degree through Marshall University. She married John Atkins and together they raised their children in Charleston, WV.

Elizabeth is survived by her brothers, Kyle Jones (Nonia Gay) and Byron Jones, her sister-in-law, Alice Atkins McCoy, and survived by John Atkins, the father of her children, Susan Todd (Kenneth) of Greenville, NC, David Atkins (Beverly) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Mark Atkins of St. Louis, MO. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Sydney Todd, Jaysa Todd, Kyle Atkins, and Evelyn Atkins.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Elizabeth will then be laid to rest with her parents at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
