Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of forty six years Roy Jack "R.J." Allen, former McDowell County Sheriff, McDowell County Commissioner and Justice of The Peace for McDowell County. Eleanor also was predeceased by three of her four children: Debra Lynn Allen, Roy Jack Allen, Jr., and Brian Cecil Allen, as well as one brother, Bob Christian.

Eleanor is survived by her oldest son, Gregory Dean Allen of Roderfield, and granddaughter, Misty Dawn Allen of New York, New York, as well as her sister Sue Dale and husband Chris of Winston - Salem, North Carolina, and her brother, Gerald Christian of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Eleanor, along with R.J., owned and operated several successful businesses, including the former popular Drive-Inn Grille in Roderfield, multiple coal trucking companies, and various other small businesses during their lifetimes. Eleanor was a member of the Methodist Church in Roderfield and routinely volunteered for both the Women's Auxiliary of the Roderfield Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Five Loaves and Two Fishes Food Bank. Eleanor spent the last several years of her life in Winston - Salem, North Carolina, in order to be closer to her sister.

Growing up on Christian Mountain, Eleanor was a very strong and brave person who was very driven and determined. Eleanor's faith was steadfast and never wavered in her sense of right and wrong. Eleanor led by example in displaying integrity and strength - and was, and is, very much loved and will be missed every minute of every day.
