Charlotte, NC - Donald R. Mullins, 92, passed quietly on June 28, 2026, in Charlotte, NC,. Born on

September 12, 1933, in Bishop, VA, he was the son of Robert and Gladys Mullins, and

one of six brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Juanita Mullins, his brother Roger Mullins (Lois),

his sons Paul Mullins and Michael Mullins (Patty), and his cherished grandchildren

Mason and Lidia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Mullins, and his siblings

Bob Mullins, Joanne Gillespie, Joe Mullins, and Marjorie "Kay" Mullins.

Don spent his boyhood in Tazewell County where he graduated from Graham High

School in Bluefield, VA, before attending the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY.

After joining the Army and attending the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, CA,

he was stationed in Japan, where he translated intercepted Russian communications.

After his military service, Don returned to the University of Kentucky to complete his

degree. He then pursued a law degree at Tulane Law School in New Orleans, LA,

where he met the love of his life, Juanita Boesch. Their love was a cornerstone of his

life, and upon graduating, they married and moved to Tuscaloosa, AL, where Don

supported his brother Bob in launching a rental uniform business.

In 1963, Don returned to Tazewell County to establish the law practice McClintock and

Mullins with his longtime friend and partner, John McClintock. The firm practiced in

Tazwell and the surrounding counties with Don managing the office in Bluefield where

he was active in the state Democratic Party. He was also a founding member of

Fincastle Country Club where he spent much of his time with his many friends and his

love for golf.

In 1986, Don was honored with an appointment by the Virginia Legislature to serve as a

judge in the 29th Circuit Court of Virginia, based in Tazewell. His tenure on the bench

was marked by fairness and a deep commitment to the law and the Tazewell Bar.

Don retired in 2000 and remained in Bluefield, the town he dearly loved, where he

embraced his passion for golf, while cherishing time spent with family and friends. His

legacy is one of service, love, and friendship.

A service to celebrate Don's life will be held Sunday, July 05, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.

Due to the holiday weekend, burial will be on Monday, July 06, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Maple Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45A.M.
