Donald Allen Byrd, 63, of Pocahontas, VA passed away March 26, 2024 in Bristol, TN. Born in Bluefield, WV he was the son of the late Charles A Byrd and Cassie Byrd Wise. Donald was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and later worked for the postal service for 25 years then retired.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother Cecil Byrd, infant sister Carolyn Jean and brother-in-law Eddie Sandifer, Amanda Byrd and Timothy Mitchell.

Donnie was a great man of faith. He had a sweet spirit and sweet smile. Dedicated member of The Church By Christ Jesus where he served as a trustee for 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, pickup trucks and reading books.

Those left to cherish his memory are brothers Tommy Byrd (Ruth) of Pocahontas, VA; sisters, Beulah Mitchell (James) of Pocahontas, VA, Judy Gibson (Mike) of Pocahontas, VA and Debbie Sandifer of Abbs Valley, VA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Rev. Michael Gibson officiating. Friends may call Friday, April 5, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm at Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA. Burial will follow at the Swim Cemetery on Peel Chestnut Mountain.
