BLUEFIELD ? Deacon Robert Eddie "Bob" Chambers of Bluefield, WV, who departed this life on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and Pastor.
Bob was born April 13, 1948 in Long Branch, WV, and the son of the late Robert Enoch and Rosa Belle (Pullen) Chambers. He was a graduate of Mt. Hope High School, Class of 1965. He graduated from Bluefield State College in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree in secondary education. Also in 1988, he graduated from WV College of Graduate Studies with a Master of Arts Degree, with a focus on Continuing Education. He was employed by Al Land Diamonds and Appalachian Power Company also, Itmann Coal Company and retired after 31 years from Southwest Virginia Community College. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served in numerous capacities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Chambers and sister-in-law, Rose Marcus.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Chambers; son, Robert Eddie (Dreama) of Charlotte, NC and daughter, Rosemary of Durham, NC; granddaughters: Amber and fiance', Brandon, Chelsie and Nyree; grandson, Robert and great-grandson, Rashaud; his sister: Sandra Chambers of Oakhill and two half-sisters, Jennifer Chambers of Beckley and Sherry Chambers of Gaithersburg, MD; sisters-in-law: Mildred Landers, Diane Jeffries, Diana and Donna Cooper and Shirley Reed; brothers-in-law: Eugene Marcus, Otis Jeffries and Thomas Reed, who is thought of as a brother; special niece, Rebecca Landers, who he thought of as a daughter; a host of nephews, other nieces; his Church family and many friends, and his dog, Cocoa.
Bob loved his family and friends. He had a special way of touching each person he came in contact with.
Services will be held at noon, on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bluefield, with his Pastor, the Reverend James J. Palmer III., officiating, and the Reverend Adrian Green and the Elders, Cary Mitchell and Samuel Moore, assisting. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Mausoleum, Rt. 20, Littlesburg Road, Bluewell.
Pallbearers: Jereial Fletcher, Robert Graham, Mike Henry, Scott Morris, Thomas Reed Jr. and Stan Rice.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until the hour of Service at the Church.
Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch.
