KIMBALL -- Deacon John W. "Paw-Paw" Smith, age 79 of Kimball, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Friday, August 26, 2016 in the comforts of his home.

He was born November 19, 1936 in Algoma, WV and the third son of Charlie and Mary V. (Dickerson) Smith. He was a graduate of Elkhorn High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a coal miner, having worked and retired from Eastern Gas Coal Company in Keystone. For over 42 years, he was a faithful member of Emmanuel Tabernacle Baptist Apostolic Church in Kimball, where he served as a Deacon and president of the Brotherhood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony and his brothers, Benjiman and Robert. John was the last surviving member of his original family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, of 37 years, Georgia M. Vincent Smith; his children: John B. (Billie) Smith of Fairmont, Walter Smith of Maryland, Maurice Vincent of Bristol, VA, Anna Simms, Audrey Smith and Adriane (Thurman) Smith all of Winston-Salem, NC, Teresa Smith of New York, Antionette Parsons of Charlotte, NC, Anissa Vincent and Carrie Smith both of the home; godson, Omarion Walton of Bluefield, a host of grand and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harrison Vincent of Texas, John H. Vincent Jr. of DC, Mildred Smith of Algoma, Mary Redd of GA and Phyllis Paschal of OH; his nephews and nieces; Church family and friends.

A Home going Celebration will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Miracle Mt. Carmel Church of God in Kimball, with Presiding Bishop Edward Mitchell eulogist, assisted by: Apostle Samuel English, Elder John Hale, Rev. James H. Redd Jr. and Elder Ronald Witcher. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, on Rt. 20, Littlesburg Road in Bluewell.

Pallbearers: (active) Sons and Anthony Baker and Marcus Baker, (honorary) Deacon Brian Davis, Bishop Johnny Davis, James Green and Justin Hale.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until time of Service on Saturday at the Church.
