David "Dumpy" Cordle Obituary

Lashmeet - David "Dumpy" Cordle, 70, of Lashmeet, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.

Born October 20, 1955, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Frazier Cordle and Ruth McBride Cordle.

David was a dedicated husband and an exceptional grandfather. He retired from the coal mines and proudly served in the National Guard. He was a loyal WVU Mountaineers fan. He was known for religiously cutting his grass, enjoying a cold Red Bull, smoking a Winston cigarette, hunting, and watching his favorite westerns. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Chris Linkous and Lonnie Hodge; his first wife, Virginia "Tina" Cordle; nephew, Eddie Cordle, Jr.; and his best friend, Hector Brim.

Left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Kathy Cordle; two daughters, Tonya Stables and Sheena Cantwell and husband Coy; one brother, Eddie Cordle and wife Doris; and four sisters, Sandy Bailey and husband Johnny, Joyce Linkous, Nancy Carden, and Debbie Hodge. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Destiny, Santanna, Abigal, Kendra, Alexis, Brook, Lauryn, Fraya, and Ryker; a treasured great-grandfather to Brayden, Mason, Ariel, Owen, Xavier, and Sailor; and also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

In honoring his wishes, there will be no services.

Arrangements by Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
