Dacer Dale Shrewsbury, 91, of Bluefield, died Friday, July 12, 2024. Born August 19, 1932 in Lamar, he was the son of the late Kay Vivian Shrewsbury and Thelma James Davis Shrewsbury.
Mr. Shrewsbury enlisted in the US Army in 1949 and served in the Korean War. He retired from National Coil in Bluefield. He was a member of Rocky Gap Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Moose and Eagles. He enjoyed playing pool and watching WVU football.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, K.V. Shrewsbury; and four sisters, Jean Wood, Avis Houchins, Bettie Wrenn and Billie Weis.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rita Mattox Shrewsbury; two daughters, Kathy Hardee and Patty Hepner both of Apoka, FL; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and 37 nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Jeff Bailey and two special nieces, Shirley Steele Mallamas and Barbara Steele Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Rodney Lawson and Rev. Frank Six officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.bailey-kirk.com.
